Kathleen M. Cable attained a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology
at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and is licensed by the
state of New Jersey as a Professional Counselor. Ms. Cable
has extensive experience in providing treatment for children
with ADHD and their families. She has developed and directed
many programs for children with ADHD and other childhood disorders,
including school-based programs, parenting groups, an intensive
outpatient program and summer programs. Ms Cable has also
taught as an adjunct professor at Georgian Court University
in Lakewood, NJ. Ms. Cable maintains a private practice with
offices in Eatontown and Toms River, NJ and specializes in
the treatment of ADHD and social skills groups for children.

The success of Camp Excel is largely due
to the expertise and dedication of our
staff. Our staff consists of professional staff and camp counselors.
In addition to
our director, the professional staff includes the assistant
directors; Certified Special
Education Teachers in the classroom; Certified Physical Education
Teachers for sports skills training; Master's Level Therapists
to facilitate social skills groups and a full-time Registered
Nurse to provide first aid and administer medication. Our
camp Counselors are all adults, generally teachers or college
students with majors in psychology, education or social work.
Children are divided into groups of approximately twelve according
to age. Each group is assigned a Lead Counselor and two additional
Counselors. These Counselors remain with their group throughout
the day and for the entire program. This consistency promotes
campers bonding with other campers and with Counselors.
Prospective staff members are carefully interviewed and reference
checks are
completed. Fingerprinting and criminal background checks are
required for all employees. Camp Excel has
a very high rate of experienced staff returning
each summer.
Staff members are required to attend pre-camp training and
weekly supervision meetings during camp. All staff members
receive full first aid instruction and an extensive training
on all safety procedures.
